Hello, True Selfers!
Anger (including its cousins rage, resentment, guilt, and such) can be heavy baggage and an obstacle to living true self.
What happens when we hold onto anger? And what freedom comes when we choose not to? That's what I'm exploring in this edition of True Talk. Raw, uncut, and unfiltered.
True Selfers’ practice this week
Anywhere, anytime you feel anger rising or lingering: pause and take three slow, deep breaths then without judgment, simply name the feeling to yourself ("I am feeling angry right now.") If you can, briefly note why if it's clear ("I feel angry because..."). See it, don’t be consumed by it. One more deep breath, then exhale away the feeling.
Repeat this week’s hymn: “I choose peace over anger and allow it to gently flow away."
Meditate to Marvin Gaye’s Anger where he sang back in 1978 of the regret he feels when he allows rage to overwhelm him and call the shots.
Journey on,
Netta Fei
